Being a Charitable Business Entrepreneur

Updated: Feb 24, 2022

Consumers choose companies that are charitable

According to a May 2013 study by Cone Communications and Echo Research, 82 percent of U.S. consumers consider corporate social responsibility (CSR) when deciding which products or services to buy and where to shop. So, giving back is powerful on your company’s sales, and its overall purpose.

Steps to take to start down your path as charitable business entrepreneur

1. Donating to causes that matter to you and your business philosophy increase morale and employee involvement 2. Donations put your company's name out there, especially if you choose to be a sponsor at a local community event. Just make sure that the event or charity mirrors your own company's goals. For example, if your company makes sporting equipment, consider sponsoring local sports teams or tournaments. That will show your current and future clients that you really care about your business and your community. 3. Donations are tax deductions, talk to your accountant for further information 4. Charitable donations help better your community, and the public will notice if a company is making a real effort to improve its surroundings.

Philanthropy is a unifying force

From the book, “The Art of Giving: Where the Soul Meets a Business Plan, George Bronfman & Jeffrey Solomon remind us; “Philanthropy is a unifying force, it’s the urge to help a disabled child, train a Labrador retriever to give a blind person independence or bring music into the schools. These are universal impulses, our better angels.”
